All FOSM,
There are no projects scheduled this year on the SRD for Public Lands Day. ☹️
So get out and enjoy the color! 😄
The aspens were 'blushing yellow' this morning, while working the Thursday crew Ellis Trail reroute.
50% colored, 50% green... so the peak is fast approaching!
Mike

Cibola National Forest & National Grasslands
Waives Day-Use Fees for National Public Lands Day
on September 28, 2024

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – September 26, 2024 – The Cibola National Forest and National Grasslands (NF & NGs) will waive fees at many day-use recreation sites for National Public Lands Day (NPLD) on Saturday, Sept. 28.

As the nation's largest, single-day volunteer effort for public lands, NPLD is a great opportunity for more Americans to get outdoors and connect with their public lands. https://www.neefusa.org/npld

The theme for NPLD 2024 is “Together for Tomorrow.” From trail maintenance to tree planting, beach clean-ups to forest bathing, and more, volunteers of all ages and abilities will roll up their sleeves and join forces for a common goal—stewarding America's natural resources for future generations to enjoy.

The Forest Service participates in fee-free days with other federal agencies to encourage Americans to visit their public lands. The final fee-free day in 2024 will be Thursday, Nov. 11, in honor of Veterans Day, which commemorates the end of World War I and pays tribute to military heroes, past and present.

If you plan to visit National Forests or National Grasslands over the weekend, know before you go. https://www.fs.usda.gov/visit/know-before-you-go and know the 7 Leave No Trace Principles https://lnt.org/:

• Plan ahead and prepare

• Travel and camp on durable surfaces

• Dispose of waste properly

• Leave what you find

• Minimize campfire impacts

• Respect wildlife

• Be considerate of other visitors
