Our semiannual Adopt-a-Highway cleanup will take place on Tuesday October 15 at 9:00 AM on the Crest Road, Hwy 536.
Meet at the pullout on the right about 0.2 mile up from the blue FOSM adoption sign (mile marker 4 is currently missing).
There is ample room for parking at the pullout. We'll work from mile 4 to mile 5.
We have two tasks to complete: 1) pick up trash along our one mile section, 2) cut brush along the highway shoulder.
For those picking up trash, a hat, gloves, long pants, closed-toed shoes and eye protection are required.
Those who cut brush with power equipment must have previous experience using power brush cutters and chainsaws.
Loppers and pruning saws will be available for those who want to manually cut brush.
Brushers should have eye protection, long pants, leather gloves(for handling thorny locust trees and wild roses), hard hat, sturdy closed-toed shoes... plus ear protection and chaps if operating power equipment. Chainsaw operators must be USFS certified.
We expect to finish by noon.
Please let me know by October 11 if you can attend, and indicate your preference: trash pickup or brushing.
I need to have a head count so I can pick up trash bags and reflective vests from DOT.
