Allowing Gay and Lesbian couples the right to attain a civil marriage
license does not take away any rights from heterosexual couples. In
fact Gay and Lesbian families are denied over 1,ooo state and federal
protections that other couples take for granted. As a result, our
families face many obstacles and hardships because they are denied
these protections, benefits and responsibilities that are granted by
the state.
