Today our Genetic privacy bill (HB 183) will be heard in the House
Judiciary Committee at 1:30 in room 309.
Genetic privacy will prohibit discrimination in employment, housing,
public accommodations and credit based upon genetic information.
We oppose both the Defense of Marriage Act (HB 445, sponsored by
Representative Gloria Vaughn) and
the Parental Notification bill (HB 251, sponsored by Representative Larry
Larranaga).
Both of these bills will be heard tomorrow, Tuesday, 2.15,
in the House Consumer & Public Affairs Committee at 1:30 in room 315.
Please contact your legislators, especially Representatives Irvin Harrison
(Vice Chair of Committee) & Al Park @ 505.986.4300.
The Defense of Marriage Act does not include civil unions. We support
Senator Cisco McSorley's Domestic Partner Relationship Act (SB576) .
The Parental Notification bill would require parental notification for
minors under the age of 18 seeking an abortion
For a description of the different marriage bills, see our wonderful
Weblog. Go to our website at www.aclu-nm.org. Then click on Weblog at the
top of the right column. It is Legislative Alert #7.
***SB103 (INS bill that prohibits state funding for local and state law

to the House Consumer and Public Affairs Committee and then to the House
Judiciary Committee. We need chapter members to work on this bill. We
cannot lose this in the House; we need 36 votes. So here are your missions,
