Dear Amnesty Friends:

Our regular meeting is Thursday, October 25, 2007, at the ABQ P&J Center
at
7pm. We have a special guest in addition to our regular agenda items.
Please
read on.

Brendan Egan from the ACLU-NM legal department is scheduled to speak at
the
Amnesty International chapter meeting this Thursday, October 25th at 7
PM at
the Albuquerque Center for Peace and Justice at 202 Harvard SE. Brendan
is
prepared to give a brief update on some of the current ACLU-NM cases
that
will be of particular interest to Amnesty International members.

Among other issues, I'm sure he will have an update for us about the
status
of the Regional Correction Center, where until recently 600 undocumented
people were being held under very poor conditions in downtown ABQ.

We are looking forward to hosting him at 7pm.  Our regular monthly
meeting,
including urgent action letter writing will follow.
