On December 11th the LWVNM convened a meeting of key organizations
supporting Fair Districts for NM. We all agreed on strategy for the 2020
legislative session.
Key to that that strategy is filing a Joint Memorial that will create a
Redistricting Task Force that will include legislators, public members, and
representatives from the Governor's office and the Secretary of State. They
will meet starting in May of 2020 and advise the 2021 legislature on
redistricting. We want legislators to support the joint memorial. Please
ask your legislator to support the joint memorial. Report any response to
me at act at lwvnm.org.
Here are the groups that will be supporting the Joint Memorial:
League of Women Voters of New Mexico; Common Cause New Mexico; New Mexico
Ethics Watch; New Mexico Open Elections; Progressive Democrats of America
Central New Mexico; Indivisible Corrales; The Brennan Center for Justice;
Election Reformers Network; Princeton Gerrymandering Project; New Mexico
First; Indivisible, Nob Hill; ACLU-NM; New Mexico Money Out of Politics
Thanks,
Dick Mason
