 Excellent article on the diversity of our state and women's ability to improve the quality of life for others. 

It neglected to mention Nina Otero Warren, our first elected Hispana official and the first to run for national office. She narrowly lost her bid for NM's only seat in the US House because her cousin outed her as a divorcee rather than a widow. She divorced Warren after finding out that he had two children and a common law wife, which would have seemed justifiable if women weren't expected to be happy housewives rather than pursue   professional careers.
