[LWVNM Action] House Joint Resolution 1 (HJR1) Independent Redistricting Commission has been filed

Representative Natalie Figueroa has filed HJR1 - Independent Redistricting
Commission. If passed by a simple majority of the two legislative chambers
it will go on the ballot in 2024. 77% of New Mexicans want an
independent redistricting commission and only 12% oppose it.* IT IS TIME TO
LET THE VOTERS DECIDE*

See attached Executive Summary of the 2021 redistricting process. Please
note the two bolded paragraphs at the end. *The legislators may think they
did a good job, but the public doesn't agree with them.*

These points should be made when discussing HJR1 with legislators
