I agree with Kathleen that this sounds like a step in the wrong direction, and we probably shouldn't support the bill as amended.

I'd like to see the number of required signatures reduced for independent candidates too; I've heard from candidates that it's almost impossible to gather the required number of signatures as an independent. Trying to sneak in an amendment that extends that already problematic policy to minor party candidates seems underhanded, and not like the sort of bill we should support.
