Indeed! Thanks to Maggie for standing up for justice and our privacy rights
and for running NM elections in an exemplary manner.
The NM SOS should be commended by the federal government for its leadership
and commitment to fair, clean, accountable, and accessible elections. Its
repudiation of the federal government’s intimidation efforts sends an
important signal to other states.
NM has been part of the ERIC election information network for many years.
The system verifies voter eligibility and keeps election records clear and
accurate by tracking deaths, changes of address, drivers license data, and
other means.
The implication that NM is lax on election security is another example of
both misinformation and disinformation. It’s a blatant attempt to discredit
states that won’t be coerced into joining the benign-sounding SAVE program,
which aims to create a national database partially on the premise that
noncitizens are voting. Definitive studies have debunked that false claim.
Instances of voter fraud are so rare that they are likened to being struck
by lightning on the moon. It’s part of the voter suppression agenda to
require voters to show a national identification card.
