Hi, all!
At the last Action meeting, Hannah reminded us that we all have to register as lobbyists for the LWVNM. It's free, since we're unpaid lobbyists. The link is:
https://login.cfis.sos.state.nm.us/
In the upper right hand corner, either log in or register. If you registered last year, your username to log in is probably your email address, though I've heard of at least one case where that didn't work (I'm not sure what to do in that case, maybe just register again).
Also, I never sent out a summary of the meeting. We decided on four priority areas:
Elections & Good Government
Environment (including water policy)
Health care
(Oops, I realize now I didn't write down the fourth one, but I think it was)
Housing
That was provisional since not many bills have been filed yet. The list isn't official until the state board accepts it next Monday, Jan 13, and if any real hot issue immigration bills get filed before then, we could change it; but bill pre-filing has been fairly slow so far.
Action meetings: we're not having one tomorrow. Too many people can't make it, we decided on Wednesday as our weekly meeting day, and in any case, not many new bills have been filed since the last meeting.
Do we need to meet next Wednesday, Jan 15? I think it depends on how many bills have been filed between now and then. If there aren't many, I'm not sure we need a meeting. Let's see what the pre-file list looks like on Monday.
We will definitely have an Action meeting Jan 22, a week from Wednesday, the day after the session begins. By then we should have a pretty good starter list of bills, and maybe even a few committee assignments.
