The 2030 Census is near! Operational decisions are being made by the current federal administration — and states across the country are launching their funding and action initiatives.

During this time of unprecedented threats to many of our vulnerable and historically undercounted communities, we must continue to prepare for the Census, but also respond to this moment — to reflect and prepare for one of the most important undertakings of our democracy: The Decennial Census Count. Our national decennial count helps determine resources for our localities. To prepare for a better future, we need accurate Census data to make the best informed decisions.

Register Now. 📅

We hope you can join FCCP's Funders' Committee Census Initiative on Census Day, Wednesday, April 1st from 2 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. ET in a conversation about how philanthropy is preparing and responding to the needs of communities across the country and how you can engage and support this work.

Our agenda is robust with resources, highly-anticipated speakers, and data we can count on. We are delighted to share that Mayor Jerome Rice, Spartanburg of South Carolina, will be one of the speakers in attendance. Prior to serving as mayor, he dedicated 12 years to public service as the District 5 City Councilman for Spartanburg, completing three consecutive terms marked by strong community engagement and leadership. Check out his full biography here.

Why this city is one to watch: Spartanburg, South Carolina, has also been selected as one of only two 2026 test sites in the U.S. for the 2030 Census. The Census Test helps improve how everyone will be counted in the upcoming 2030 Census. Learn more about the Census Test at census.gov/2026test.

We will also be joined by United Philanthropy Forum, who is also an FCCI Member. The Forum recently administered mini-grants for Census engagement led by philanthropy-infrastructure organizations (PIOs) across the country and will share more about this collective effort.
