[LWVNM Action] Modest Increases in Youth Voter Registration Compared to 2022 Midterms | CIRCLE

NM is doing well increasing its youth voter registration rates but we need
to make sure that these new voters actually cast their ballots!
LWV’s Unite and Rise initiative called out the sad fact that 8.5 million
registered voters did not show up for the 2024 election.
We desperately need to focus on turnout as well as registration!

“While states like Minnesota and Nevada have historically had above-average
voter turnout and have strong policy frameworks to support youth voter
registration, the increase in a state like New Mexico is especially
notable. The state usually has one of the lowest youth voter turnout rates
in the country, but since introducing automatic voter registration in July
2025, registrations have been increasing
