RRFW Riverwire - GRAND CANYON SECONDARY LOTTERY STARTS MONDAY

Grand Canyon National Park will be conducting a secondary (follow-up)
lottery for forty-five remaining calendar year 2007 launch dates.
Thirty-one of the forty-five trips are in the January and February or
the November and December time periods of 2007.
The Secondary Lottery will take place starting Monday November 26, 2006,
and will remain open for applications through Monday December 4, 2006.
According to the National Park Service web site at

Forty three of these permits will be for standard sized trips (1 - 16
participants), and 2 will be for small trips (1 - 8 participants).
These permits are the result of recent cancellations and permits
unclaimed within the last lottery. The drawing date for this secondary
lottery will be December 6th.
Standard Size Trips (for 1 - 16 participants):
Jan 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16, 20, 22, 23, 25
Feb 2, 3, 5, 6, 19
Mar 4, 6, 6, 7, 12, 28
Jun 7, 18
Sep 25, 29
Oct 27, 29
Nov 15, 24, 29
Dec 8, 9, 12, 14, 21, 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, 30<
Small Size Trips (for 1 - 8 participants):

River runners who are at least 18 years old and not already members of
other trips launching in calendar year 2007 are eligible to apply.
According the Park Service, the lottery application fee is $25 per
lottery year; individuals who have already paid for a calendar year 2007
lottery can apply without being charged a second time.
The lottery is open to anyone without a launch in 2007, whether or not
you applied for the initial lottery in October of this year.
According to the Park Service, applications will be accepted online at
https://npspermits.us <https://npspermits.us/> from 11/27/2006 through
4pm Arizona time on 12/4/2006.
