9:30AM at Taos Junction Bridge. $25/day for AWC members (non-members can
join AWC for an additional $15). A release form (emailed to you) signed
by parent or guardian is required. Pre-registration required (Contact
Dallas at jeepster101 at comcast.net for more information). Clinic cost is:
$25/day + $5 ACA event insurance coverage if you don't have proof of
your current ACA membership. On Friday and Saturday evening there is
free camping at the Taos Junction group campsite. The water is still
cold so a wet suit and dry top are recommended. A wet exit is required
so all students should do one in a warm pool before the clinic. We will
work on strokes and skills on the State Park section of the Rio Grande.
An advanced group will practice on the Race Course section of the Rio
Grande. Michelle Kvanli will instruct advanced students. Michelle is
a national whitewater team member and a Jr. National whitewater team coach.
General Information
Several things for paddlers to know about clinics. You must
be an AWC member to participate or make special arrangements
with AWC. Bring your own boat, paddle, PFD, helmet and
appropriate clothing. Bring your own food and camping
equipment (most times AWC will provide a camping location).
Remember that our certified instructors, and those that we
bring in from outside of the club, put a fair amount of
their own time and money into maintaining their ACA
certification. If you think they did a good job, give them
a tip!
