Good morning all.
I just wanted to share some information on Rio Chama flows for the upcoming holiday weekend and into next week.
Flows are currently right around 650 cfs and will likely be increasing to around 800 on Friday. We are trying to complete storage of a limited amount of Emergency Drought Water. Upon completion (which is expected this weekend) we will begin bypassing the entire inflow to El Vado. That means flows on the Rio Chama will increase at some point this weekend to somewhere between 1500 and 2000 cfs. We ask those planning rafting trips to be cautious and aware that there will be this significant increase in flows. We also want downstream residents to be aware of the increase. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Have a safe and happy Memorial Day Weekend.
