*Reel Paddling Film Festival to be shown in Albuquerque, *
*June 2, 2012. *
A unique film festival will be shown in Albuquerque Saturday, June 2 
from Noon to 3:30 p.m.
Albuquerque is bringing the Reel Paddling Film Festival, the best of the 
best of 2012 winners sponsored by Rapid Media.
Viewers will see just how much fun a day of paddling a kayak, canoe, 
paddleboard, or kayak fishing can be.The festival screening also will 
tackle some important water-related issues and will raise money for 
American Rivers, Wild Earth Guardians and New Mexico Xtreme Sports water 
programs.
The screenings are at Noon to about 3:30 p.m. Saturday June 2nd at the 
Guild Cinema, on 3405 Central Avenue Northeastin Nob Hill, in 
Albuquerque. Admission to the event is $15 per person, with advance 
ticket sales both at REI Albuquerque and at www.ticketriver.com

the day of the event). Seating is limited and there will only be one show.

Numerous films will be shown, most of them are not very long, with some 
lasting about 10 minutes, said Stephen Verchinski an American Canoe 
Association Instructor and host of the event.

“I read about it in a magazine and it sounded like a really cool idea,” 
Verchinski said.

Many of the films are from out of the country, but “it’s a collection of 
the year’s best paddling films. There are awards for different genres of 
paddling films, ranging from environmental films, or whitewater films or 
fishing films,” he said

“Most of them are only about 10 minutes long, or show little vignettes, 
some are a little bit longer.” Trailers for some of the films can be

receive a free on line one year digital subscription to a Rapid Media 
publication. Information on local, national and international paddling 
opportunities will also be available and a raffle will be held.
Saturday’s event will also offer a chance for paddlers mingle with 
others in preparation to Sunday and the City of Albuquerque Paddlefest 
celebrating the Rio Grande with the Open Space Program on June 3^rd .
