Hello Everyone,

So as many of you know the state of New Mexico has some pretty weird and
outdated boating safety laws as they pertain to paddle sports. For the
past several years these laws have led to tension and occasionally
citations written to paddlers who did not comply to the laws.
Fortunately after a great deal of work by several individuals it looks
like change is in the air. Kelly Gossett along with several other
paddlers and state officials have been working on these changes and it
has come to the point of a public forum. It is incredibly important to
all of us paddlers as these changes may greatly impact paddle sports in
the state. Please go to
http://www.emnrd.state.nm.us/SPD/ParkRuleMaking.html to check out the
proposals and schedule for the public input. It is important that we get
as many folks to this input session as possible to show that the
paddling community is alive and cares enough to express its opinions on
change and the future or our sport in the state. There are also
directions on how to e-mail or submit comments if you are unable to make
the actual meeting.

Thanks,

Your President
