Hey all  - November is here! We have 2  meetings this month!!! Yes 2! ALSO -
December Holiday Meeting set.

 

Wednesday, Nov 6th is the AWC Special Presentation by Tom Martin on his book
"Big Water, Little Boats"

 

This meeting will be at Los Griegos Community Center, 1231 Candelaria NW 

(Just go Down River on Candelaria , past 12th Street, and Eddy out
North(right side) at the community center.)

His presentation will include historical info on some of the first runs in
the Grand Canyon and among other things:

original film footage he discovered during his research, including film of
the first kayak to run Lava Falls in 1960, the first dory to run the Yampa
and the first dory to flip in Horn Creek! Bring your life jacket!

Proceeds from the evenings book sales will benefit the Adobe Whitewater
Club.

6:00-7:00 pm Social Hour w. pizza and sodas or bring your own dinner from
home.

7:00 pm  Tom Martin Presentation

8-8:30 pm book signing, clean up

Free to all - membership  not required - bring a friend

Presenter:  Paul Bauer from NM Tech -a principal geologist and associate
director at the New Mexico Bureau of Geology & Mineral Resources.

Topic:  Down the Rio Grande: A Paddlers Perspective of the Rocks and Rapids

This one-hour presentation is a celebratory geo-photo-journey down the
undammed section of the northern Rio Grande, with an emphasis on the river
hydrogeology and the evolution of the sublime landscape.

His River guide will be available for purchase and signing:  The Rio Grande,
A River Guide to the Geology and Landscapes of Northern NM.

Holiday Party: Special presentation by Shannon Scofield, Thalia Fort, Rachel
Fort, and Evan Fort - "Our First Grand Canyon River Trip"  from a kids
perspective.  

 - After presentation, sit down dinner
