[Awclist] Holiday Party: Map/Logistics, Program, Silent Auction Items

It is almost
here, our exciting New Mexico Paddlers’ Holiday Party is tomorrow, Saturday
December 6 from 4:30pm to 10pm at Hotel Cascada in the Ocatillo Ballroom! The
Adobe Whitewater Club of New Mexico, Greater Albuquerque/ Santa Fe Kayak
Meet-Up, and Kayak New Mexico 501(c)3 are excited to share this very special
and fun event with you!


Following is
information on logistics, summary of our program, and an update on the silent
auction items. 

>100
people have pre-purchased dinners; we have people coming from all over the
state of NM and some neighboring states as well


~$4,000
worth of silent auction items have been donated   


10 musicians
will be coming to play live music


We also have
a number of small items to give away throughout the evening



Logistics:

-Hotel
Cascada is quite large and there will be a number of events on Saturday. Signs
will be posted throughout the hotel to direct you to the Ocatillo
Ballroom.  Attached is a map of where our
ballroom is located and the nearest parking. 
If you get lost, think of it as an adventure and simply ask for help. 
-Please be extra kind and verbally appreciative to the staff at Hotel Cascada. They have been extremely generous and kind to our group. They are not charging us for the use of the ballroom, theatre or courtyard, have given extremely discounted meal rates (they upgraded our meals to be buffet), provided discounts for water park passes, discounts for the rooms, and are providing decorations to make our party festive. Their service toward this party's organizing team has been outstanding and we want them to know how much our community recognizes and appreciates their contributions and efforts. 


-Those that paid
for dinner may sit at any table with a place setting. Those that are not having
dinner please sit at tables that do not have a place setting. 


-Given we
had to pre-pay and plan for a large group, we have 15 dinners left to be
purchased at the door. Once those are sold, we will not be able to sell any
more to ensure those that planned in advance receive their complete meal.
Please show up early if you plan to order dinner and have not yet paid. 


-We have worked very hard to plan as much as possible in advance. If something doesn't go as smoothly as planned, feel free to bring it up and we will do our best to address it.  Please also have some patience and generosity of spirit as this event is a first for many of us so there will certainly be learning along the way. Most importantly: have fun!

5:30-6:45 Brief program and buffet
dinner  (IF YOU ARE HAVING DINNER, PLAN TO ARRIVE NO LATER THAN 5:15pm)


6:45pm Onward


-Discounted
water park passes available, purchase at Hotel Cascada for $16 plus tax,
reference NM Paddlers’ Holiday Party


-7:15pm
movie will be shown in the theatre


-Socializing
in the ballroom or outside in the courtyard by the fire pits


-Cash bar
beverages may be taken into the theatre or court yard


10pm – Hotel Cascada has some rooms
still available and will continue to offer a room for $69 plus tax to our
group; reference the NM Paddlers’ Holiday Party to receive the discount

  Artwork - Jonathan Barton’s“Pilar, Sisters” is a one of a kind, hand-made,
  sculpture created using earth-ware, burnished terra sigillata, twice fired.
  The artist used traditional chip carving techniques, and highlighted the
  piece with turquoise from the “Sleeping Beauty Mine”, Arizona. This 12” x
  12”sculpture was created in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, and it was signed and
  dated by the artist at the time it was completed. Certificate of authenticity
  included with the sculpture.
