Folks - Sorry about the previous email it was stuck in our listserver. The
pool session was last night. However here is a reminder of the pool
session for next 6 weeks.

Adobe Whitewater Club Members,

Exciting ABQ Pool information below!

Next week Thursday is the 3rd of 8 exciting AWC pool sessions! As previously
communicated, due to the gracious generosity of the Jewish Community
Center (JCC), the American Canoe Association (ACA) and our Adobe
Whitewater Club membership we are pleased to offer these sessions free of
charge for all AWC members ($15 per family per year).

If you plan to attend any of the pool sessions, please be sure to read
everything below.

Sponsors:

-JCC has donated use of their facilities and is only charging us for
staffing, please be extra considerate and kind to the staff, take care of
the facilities, ensure all rules are followed and please be sure to
communicate the rules to others if you see they are not being followed.
Use of the JCC pool and facility is a privilege and we hope to further
this relationship through this trial 8 week period.

-ACA has graciously donated insurance for 20 people per session for all 8
weeks plus an additional $200 to help offset costs for the club. In
total, ACA donated $1,000 to our local paddling community to help enable
our pool sessions. For each person beyond the 20, we have to pay $5 for
insurance. Last week we had 20 people. If you are already an ACA member,
this will save our event $5 per session. Please come prepared with your
ACA number and expiration date. You can find this information on your
membership card of the ACA website. If you aren’t a member, consider
joining at a discounted rate for AWC members. Membership includes many
benefits including paddling magazines, discounts, information, and most
importantly contributing to the future of paddle sports. If membership in
our state grows, so does the money ACA will invest in our local community.

-AWC purposes are to promote river sports in New Mexico and elsewhere, to
develop skills in river running, to support the preservation, protection,
and improvement of rivers and river environments, to encourage the safe
usage of our rivers by all and to work for the continued availability of
rivers for recreational uses. The modest $15 membership per year is
invested directly back into our local NM paddling community.

Pool Details:

Free to AWC members, please consider making a donation for each session
you attend

The cost per person to run the pool sessions is ~$10 per person, which is
being offered without charge for AWC members (only $15/year per family).
Please consider making a donation to help offset the costs. While not
necessary, it will help us to invest that money in potential future pool
sessions or other events. Consider that for an individual, this is being
provided at a savings of $80 and for a family of 4 there is a $320
savings. Additionally, if you are an ACA member, you can help us save on
insurance by providing your number and expiration date.

side of Wyoming)

Logistics:

7:45pm You may drive your car to the back gate to drop off your boat (do
not block fire hydrant)

Sign ACA waver (every time), JCC waver (just once), and read pool rules
before entering gate

The pool is located outdoors but is heated. The kids pool is at an even

itself is well lite although there is not a lot of lighting outside of the
pool.

Each week we will have ACA Certified or similarly qualified people to
teach play boating or roll sessions. This week, Jamie and Heather have
graciously offered to teach a play boating clinic and Russ has offered to
provide roll instruction.

Rules:

Please be respectful of the pool rules that have been established by the
JCC and ACA. Please help educate others as this is new for all of us and
we want to extend our relationship with the JCC.

Note: PFDs are mandatory when in a boat. You may rinse them off with the
hose after.

All participants must sign JCC Guest Waiver Form (except JCC Members)

• Pool would be available from 8pm to 9:30pm for kayaking on Thursday

• Enter and exit the pool along the South side of the pool.

their first pool session.

If pool sessions are popular and we are financially able to continue to
offer them, there is a potential opportunity to offer earlier sessions in
the fall and throughout the winter.

A special “thank you” to Tom who helped make the initial connection with
the JCC!
