I'm forwarding along some news from the organizers of the XTERRA "Tri the
Torture" coming up in Glorieta on August 9 (see below). Again, this is
sure to be a lot of fun, and a great place to bring the family to a race.
 Bring a swimsuit!

I did my first XTERRA in 2009, and ever since, I've had a blast with them.
I especially like doing new ones, so this is going to be fun. Despite
it's official name, I don't think this one will be very torturous. In
fact, it's a good one for first timers, with the swim being quite short.
Most of these are about the bike, really, but the trail run is nothing to
discount. If you're not up for all three disciplines, contact the
core-crew organizers and get a team together.

These have a fun, laid-back atmosphere. I would say they're like the
combination of triathlon, mountain biking, adventure racing, and those
crazy "mud-run" type events, all in one. If you're never done one, this is
one to "tri!"

Also, don't forget that we're having the Tuesday evening MTB training races
up to the week leading up to the XTERRA in Glorieta. They've been fun and
great training. Meet at the LANL fitness track around 5:45 for the course
pre-ride.

Just a reminder that the XTERRA Tri the Torture is only 3 weeks ago. Last
year we did the Dirty Duo and this year we've expanded to an off road
triathlon. Get the details from our new website
<http://core-crew.com/xterra> or get info and register at New Mexico Sports
Online
<http://www.newmexicosportsonline.com/events/details.aspx?id=742&_ga=1.116925696.744412345.1405999593>
.

Registration is only $60 for individuals or teams. Trails, zip lines,
water park and other features will be open to spectators and competitors as
long as it doesn't conflict with the event. There will be food available
at the race site and we're negotiating for beer sponsor/vendor. Lodging is
available at Glorieta Camps, from $10/night tent sites to really nice hotel
rooms for $89/night. It will be a great time for all.

If you don't run or swim, let me know and I'll try to hook you up with
teammates.

Hope to see you there!

Brent and the rest of the CORE Crew <http://core-crew.com/about>.
