Stephen,  I am still stunned by this news.  I am so very glad that you and Adam got through this safely, and I am so deeply saddened about Nathan.  He is a very, very special young man.  I have watched his progress and dedication to bicycle racing and have felt an extreme, if vicarious, pride in Nathan.  I took a professional chance on him a couple of years ago and he proved not only worthy of the trust but exceeded every requirement I put before him with grit, courage, and a determination I have seen in precious few adults, much less a young man in his mid-teens.  The young folks you are mentoring are among the most beneficial to our racing community and it is a tragedy that both he and our racing community have suffered grievous harm.  May the touch of Christ be upon Nathan and heal him completely!  Be well and be safe, all of you who dare the road.  As so many others in our wonderful community have said, anything I can do for you or for Nathan and his folks is but for the asking.

With a most pained heart,
John Jordan

Nathan Barkocy and I were hit by a car on Saturday. We were heading south on coors about 4 miles south of Rio Bravo. The car hit us from behind, doing about 60 miles an hour. Nathan took the full force of the hit. He flew about 50 ft before hitting the ground. He is in a coma at UNMH, and has been that way since he hit the ground. I'm am battered and bruised, having trouble getting around, but I am alive.
His family, classmates and team mates are keeping watch over him.
Please pray, send good thoughts his way, light candles or whatever you can do to send him the strength to recover.
I will keep you updated as I find out information. Thanks Stephen
