Great Solution Hawke,

You might can go simpler where there is no real organization but just Start
Times when groups ride together and only charge $5 in the coffee can. Most
people just want a workout.

5:45 to 6:15 group A (3,4,5)

6:30 to 7:30 group B (1,2,3)

If you show up late just jump in. When your tired pull out.

If women or cat 5's want their own group just start them on the opposite
side of the course.

6 weeks with 50 riders at $5 a pop is $1,500.

Bring back the old days with "Coke" primes.

No official results. Just weekly bragging rights.

As Ricky Bobby would say, "I want to go Fast!"

Subject: [NMCycling] TNC replacemant idea

Tuesday Crit interested Bike-racers:

It is looking like HDB cannot do the crits this year. Things come up, and I
understand that. Silvio Menezes approached me about taking them over, but I
really do not have the time right now. However, I hate to see the crits not
happen. I have an idea by which we can have a series and kind of share the
promotional work.

Though I can't run the crits on a scale that has been done in the past, I am
willing to do the following:

I send in a USAC permit for the crits and get a permit from Albq parks. We
can't get around a $200 late fee. We use the Baloon fiesta course.

We get a non-competitive fun ride/clinic permit. Under this, we can run the
crits more of less normally except that there would be no scoring, no
prizes, no officials, no numbers. This takes a about 2/3 of the work out of
running the crit. A little less personal glory but we still get a crit
series.

Since this is cheaper, we just charge $12 a head, juniors free.

I will run one or two crits myself.

Other clubs step in and agree to run one or two crits per each club. Any
proceeds after all fees, and minimum wage for me doing City/USAC paperwork,
goes to each club that ran each race. There should be a little profit left.
I do not get hourly money for the ones I do but I get the same cut as other
clubs. HDB said they might be able to pick up a couple as well.

Clubs will need to:
set up cones/course
do registration
provide someone to work the lap card and start the crits
fill out a rider roster and post event form and send fees to USAC.
provide some water if they want.
That is pretty much all
3-4 people can probably do it depending on turnout.

I think we could get this going by 6-13. I would need to hear back from the
clubs by the end of this weekend if this is to happen. (Lets on midnight
6-4) Plan on 8 Tuesdays from 6/13-9/8 skipping 7/4.

Best Regards,
