Your site description is ambiguous as the two extensor tendons that govern the great toe run from the foot lengthwise ; one ending at the middle great toe joint and the long extensor to the very tip. Persistent pain after the first week usually means you are continuing to bend the toe somewhat and complete side,( transverse), fractures of the great toe can easily go on to non- union/ pseudoarthrosis,( look it up). Unless your fracture is a simple avulsion, ( chip), fracture your great toe needs to be sufficiently splinted to immobilize until it heals sufficiently, usually 3-4 wks. post injury. If it is indeed a through and through transverse or oblique fracture make sure your are getting medical advisement from a doctor that knows these injuries, as these injuries become a real hassle post operatively if they require a screw or pin for stabilization. Best of luck.
