Good morning, friends in the cycling community:

The Tour of the Rio Grande Bicycle Century will not be an organized mass
event in 2025.

For locals who are familiar with the South Valley area near the start /
finish, there's been a lot of road work and construction. We have been
talking with Bernalillo County and NMDOT for the past couple months in
regards to the ride / permitting. They say with what is planned for Rio
Bravo Blvd and its intersection with 2nd street, they cannot guarantee they
will approve our permitting. They described how the state of the
construction will make the road unsafe for cyclists. It is with this
information I have chosen to make the event virtual.

A virtual event is one that doesn't have a particular ride date, start time
or support outside of ridewithgps directions as a template. This is being
done so that the event holds its last Sunday of September spot on public
calendars. It also gives fans of the ride the option to use the ridewithgps
to find a place to park away from the construction, and attempt a part or
all of the ride. There are a number of local businesses on the way that
have food and beverage and they would love your support.

We did think about moving the start / finish to make the ride happen and we
came to the conclusion to not change the ride in fear of ruining the
experience.

Registration for the virtual tour is $5 or $20. Both options have fees and
tax. The $20 dollar option will include a shirt and stickers for the
virtual tour 2025 and local sponsor perks with shipping included. These
will start being shipped in March and sent as they are ordered with an
estimated two week turnaround time.

Online registration is open until 11:59pm MST Sunday September 28th.

There is no packet pick-up. There is no official support. Ridewithgps will
include the original start / finish. It is up to the rider to update their
route to avoid any construction or hazard.

Thank you all for your support. For more info www.torgbc.com
