Hi Y'all

After talking to one of our racers, I am revising our 10 rider minimum policy. In the future, starting with 7/25, we will not have a minimum of riders to proceed with a race, but if we get less than 6 riders we will do the race a little less formally, mark the course minimally, and not charge entry fees. If we are in "informal mode" and you want to bring a donation of like $10 for my internet time, that would be cool. We will still do a group preride. If it is just me and one other rider we will still go for a ride around the course. If we get 6 riders or more I will mark out the course and run it like a normal little race. 

This way I do not end up spending an hour setting up a course for 3 riders.  And from the riders point of view, they can plan ahead on coming out, knowing that the race will not get canceled due to low rider turnout. I think this is a better system. We used to do something like this for the Tuesday MTB races, but I had kind of forgotten about it. 

Also, after my talking to some of the beginner riders at the race Saturday, I was thinking there might be some interest in doing some clinics. I used to do these with the Tuesday night criteriums.  
I don't have the permission in yet but tentatively I would like to do two road criterium clinics (starting 7/30) then two mountain bike clinics then two cyclocross clinics and possibly an intermediate/advanced cyclocross clinic a lot of the time for which would be devoted to Bunny Hop techniques. I will get dates out for this soon. My plan was to do two midweek clinics per discipline, one on a Wednesday evening and one on a Thursday evening so people could make it around their schedules. And if people could make both clinics that would be cool too.

Finally we are doing another little grassroots mountain bike cross country next weekend July 25th and 26th with a cross country Saturday at Gutierrez  Canyon and a criterium Sunday at East Mountain high School. Even though we are not doing minimums it really helps if you can sign up by Thursday at 11:00 p.m. so that I know how many people to expect.

I had a few people interested in doing a kids race at the criterium. Due to the they're being kind of a steep up and downhill to get from the dirt section to the paved section a beginner kids course would probably be mostly on pavement. If you might be interested in a kid's race or if your kids might be interested, send me an email, or just sign them up and put a note of their ages in the note section.
