I like the idea, having seen how much nicer 29er wheels are vs 26ers. I would definitely ride a 32 bike if money were no object. I am going to say that they would probably be a little faster on most courses for taller riders. However, we are in kind of a good place now with all race bikes using the same size wheels. You can put road tires on a MTB and MTB tires on road wheels. I am currently using my old carbon MTB wheelset on my gravel/cx/road bike. As far as making racing financially accessible we are doing pretty well with 29/700c wheels. Since we have been on 29ers for several years there is a lot of used equipment floating around for new racers, which is still pretty competitive. Maybe we should restrict races to 29 wheels and let the 32 wheels sit for a few while, let people tool up and work out some of the logistics of suspension and geometry and think about phasing them in maybe 5 years from now. If you encounter road debris that could take someone down, or contsruction signs that block the entire shoulder, please consider taking a moment to stop and rectify the situation. ESPECIALLY if you are on a group ride. Scoot the signs to the pavement edge, chuck rocks and broken wood with nails sticking out into the bushes. This benefits everyone including you, but especially group ride participants. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
