Hello bikers!
Some of my friends up in Raton asked me to help to get the word out about their inaugural mountain bike race. It's a 24 mile race on pretty challenging and hilly/steep terrain at elevations ranging between 7,000 and 8,000 feet. The race will take place in Sugarite State Park - which is on the Colorado border. Here is their website for more information:

The race is called the Raton DAD (Down and Dirty) Mountain Bike Race because it is the companion race to the Raton MOM (Master of the Mountain) adventure race (trail run, kayak, road bike, and tactical shotgun). I have participated in the MOM multiple times and can personally attest to the wonderfulness of the volunteers, the beautifulness of the area, and the awesomeness of the race swag.
The Raton DAD race organizers are committed to a similarly great race experience. I believe that there may even be free camping in the park for race participants - but you would have to check about that. Please contact Leslie at
nmbikerchica76@gmail.com if you have any questions.
Thanks and happy riding! -Mandy
