Olev Rapido has decided to not put on the Regional Crit Championships in 2019.  This was a club decision and had nothing to do with the excellent support and professionalism of the ABQ Parks and Rec, and specifically the fantastic assistance of Susan Rice, truly a great partner!  To add to the list of benefits that the Balloon Fiesta Park offers, the drop-in grate replacement structures (the ones that allow for safe turns in the middle area of the field) are now part of the NMBRA hardware located in the basement of the Trek Superstore.  There are handles designed to lift and move the BFP steel grates (takes two people per grate, better with a team of four, I figure they weigh about 150lbs each) also with the kit.  I would be more than happy to demonstrate their use to anyone who wishes to use them, and, while the BFP has final say on their use for an event, they have tested and cleared them for use as safe way to add to the complexity and liveliness of the course layout at the BFP.  Thanks immensely Susan and the crew at BFP for a great run of RCC events!

I would hate to see the NM Regional Crit Champ dropped.

 

I believe Parks & Rec would pick it up, but not in 2019. We have the National Senior Games in ABQ June 2019. My department will be stretched thin.

 

If a local club would partner with Outdoor Recreation to host the event at the Balloon Fiesta Park in 2019, we will give support with the facility and staff for course workers. We just cannot take on the logistics this year. The weekend would need to be June 8th – 9th
