I totally agree. It's no fun to call out names and have them not be there. We have beer, food trucks, live music, etc at our events. We still have people leave, sometimes for legitimate reasons. The fact is that people will do what they want.

I agree whole heartedly, Charlie.

Maybe we can have the waiting-around be a bit more of a social time…?

Music at the finish line?

All to often I notice people standing on the podium at various New Mexico Bike race events. The problem is, it seems there is only one or two people most of the time, I know that generally there are more than just one or two people racing in their category.

The way I see it if someone has the time to spend traveling to a race, competing for several hours, a little more time can be spent to wait for podium results. It took a big effort to reach the podium, so out of respect to the promotor, fellow competitors, the team one represents and the promoter who puts many hours in putting on a race why can't a little extra time be spent waiting?

Most of the time just getting on the podium at all is a big well earned effort, be it 1st, 2nd or 3rd, racers that don't get to the podium wish they did!

Besides the excitement of racing, isn't that one of the goals in a race is to reach the podium for your team and giving them exposure when reached? It's a thank you to fellow teammates as well who helped in reaching the podium!

Stick around a little longer, you earned the podium, enjoy the moment!!

Just my two cents.....
