Highland's band will be attending the MPA on March 13th. The concert is at La Cueva.
The bus will pick us up at
Highland around 2:15. We will need a parent willing
to ride the bus with the kids. We will also need two other
parents to be with the group at all times so we meet the chaperone
quota. Please let me know if you can help, the 2 other chaperones
could drive separately. Email me at maryscof@scofie.net if you
want to be a band chaperone.
Tony and I will use our SUVs
to take the larger instruments like tubas, euphoniums, trombones,
larger woodwinds. Most percussion will be at La Cueva. That will
leave the bus less cramped. Ms G is getting directions as to where
we can drop off the instruments and park those transport vehicles.
Students will need to meet up us to get their instruments. I'm not
counting Tony or myself as chaperones, as we'll be dealing with
instruments.
Warm up is at 3, so we are planning to feed the students after their performances. The easiest seems to be pizza. We usually get Pizza 9, but the closest to La Cueva is Louisana/Montgomery. Dions is very close to La Cueva (Wyoming and Paseo) - can I have a volunteer to call Dions about a discount? We usually need 9 to 10 pizzas (4 cheese, 6 pepperoni), also some large salads - so plates, forks and dressing. A veggie sub with no cheese for Ms G. Once we know our options (Dions or Pizza 9), we'll place the order and pay for it up front - I'll need someone to drive down to pick up the food. We'll also have a case or so of water.
The students stay until later to listen to other bands - so return to the school (I'll verify with Ms G) will probably be 7ish.
I'm not sure of the final
performance schedule, but if you want to listen to the band I'd
suggest you be at La Cueva around 3 - 3:15 so that you can be sure
not to miss it - the concert would be in the PAC. That would be
the easiest place to congregate and there should be a schedule
available there.
