[Lwvcnmtopics] League of Women Voters of Central New Mexico Updates

I understand that a strong possibility this election is that the SOS or
county clerks will mail out applications for absentee ballots to all
voters to complete.  Given that some counties have only ONE polling
station for the whole county, voting by mail is a much easier alternative.

More of my emails on voting bring up the convenience of voting by mail,
and keep in mind that Oregon got started around 40  years ago and now
only votes by mail as do about a handful of other states.

It will come here as well, but not in our life times.

A key issue is that because of postal delay, absentee ballots should be
mailed in about 10 days ahead of time or NM law has to be changed to
allow ballots with a postmark of election day to be counted when
received.  Thus the voting totals will be delayed a handful of days.
