Good day, League members. I come once again asking for your help with an election event. Please let me know by next Thursday, September 19 if you'd like to volunteer. To maintain the League's non-partisan status, please do not volunteer if you are directly involved in the campaigns of the two US Senate candidates.
The League has been asked to keep time for a television debate between the US Senate candidates Martin Heinrich and Nella Domenici.
The debate will be recorded in the afternoon, and then aired that evening.
Debate details:
Date: Monday, October 14, 2024
Time: 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Hosted and moderated by KOAT-TV, Channel 7
Location: KOAT studios at Carlisle and Comanche, Albuquerque
Those League members we trained to be timekeepers a couple of years ago need to know that this particular task we've been asked to help with is a totally different format. The timekeepers will likely be at the rear of the studio, at a small table facing the wall, with their backs to the candidates. We will need two (2) League volunteers:
*** one member to keep time - probably using their smartphone's timer feature,
and
*** a second member to watch the time countdown and press a yellow button to indicate time remaining for the candidate's response, and then press a red button to indicate that time has expired.
(each of the candidates' cameras will display the yellow and red lights)
The KOAT moderator will inform the timekeepers the time allotted for each question.
If you want to volunteer, please contact me as soon as possible, and no later than Thursday, September 19.
The League thanks you for your help.
