Dear Members,

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) Albuquerque Branch has
extended the following invitation to LWVCNM members to attend a
presentation at their monthly meeting, this Saturday on February 1st.

The talk is titled, “The Power of the Presidency and the Constitution” and
will be presented by Professor Joshua Kastenberg from the University of

New Mexico School of Law.


Date: Saturday, February 1, 2025

Time: 10:00 am - noon

“The Power of the Presidency and the Constitution”

We are very fortunate this month to have our invited speaker, Professor
Joshua  Kastenberg from the University of New Mexico School of Law, give a
presentation  analyzing the evolution of presidential power through a
non-partisan lens.

At UNM, Professor Kastenberg teaches courses in criminal law and criminal
procedures, evidence, ethics, national security law and legal history and
has developed a national security law course for the University of New
Mexico’s graduate Global  Studies Program. Recent service to the state of
New Mexico and other legal  institutions includes serving on the NM
Judicial Standards Performance Evaluation  Commission, chairing the NM
Ethics Subcommittee on Human Trafficking and serving  as an advisor to the
US Senate, Armed Service Committee.

Prior to joining the UNM Law School faculty in 2016, Professor Joshua
Kastenberg had  a distinguished 20-year career as a lawyer and judge in the
U.S. Air Force that included  advising the Depart of Defense on
cybersecurity and cyberwarfare matters, and serving  as a prosecutor,
defense council and judge in many trials. He has also published
extensively, been cited in numerous media outlets in his areas of expertise
and served  as a legal analyst for the British Broadcasting Corporation
(BBC). Professor  Kastenberg's interests are in the field of criminal law
and procedure, evidence, legal  history, and judicial ethics.
