*The monthly educational meeting *is this Thursday, *January 8*, hybrid at
noon. The topic is League Priorities for the 2026 Legislative Session.

*LWVCNM will have a table *at the Bernalillo County Naturalization Ceremony
on *January 9*.

*LWVNM will have an advocacy workshop* on *January 10* on Zoom. All League

*The 2026 Legislative Session* begins on *January 20* (and ends on *February
19*).

*The* *Drop-In Coffee* is on *January 24* from 10 AM to noon in the
conference room.

*The next LWVCNM Book Club session* is on *January 28 *at 5:30. The
book is *The
Line Becomes A River – Dispatches from the Border* by Francisco Cantú.

*The LWVNM League Legislative reception* is *January 29th* at La Fonda in
Santa Fe.

*League Day at the Legislature* is *January 30th*.

*There is still time to write a letter to the governor *asking her to send
a message to include the Freedom to Read New Mexico bills to the 2026
session. One of the three

bills has been filed by Representative Cates. The bill is HB26 PROHIBITING
BOOK BANNING AT PUBLIC LIBRARIES.

There will be two more bills filed in the near future. One by Senator Pope
and the other by Senator Sedillo Lopez.
