Totally agree.

Hiz Honor's spokesperson responded to the Journal article in patronizing fashion that they were glad to see the Bernalillo County water authority was "making improvements." Like most of these projects nationwide they failed to take all the costs into account, in this case the water line re-routes, and you know there will be more cost overruns -the estimated cost already went up from when they requested Federal funds. Nob Hill along the last longest stretch of historic Route 66 needs to be nurtured, not destroyed. The city's money could be put to much better use along Central and elsewhere. With this climate, how about a really even more aggressive project for city-wide bike/walking paths? If the taxpayers in ABQ proper knew water bills were going to go up in support of this ridiculous, unnecessary project, I think there would be widespread disapproval which might at least lead to an opportunity for voter input. Frankly, it should make us wonder what's going on with millions floating around while both "democrats" and "republicans" support a project and studiously avoid input from the citizenry.

It seems to me that Mayor Berry and the city politicos are simply stuffing this entire project down our throats whether we like/want it or not. Money can be better spent - KAFB water cleanup for example. Question is, what can be done? Is there any organized opposition to this plan which will pressure the politicians where it impacts them the most - that being future political plans? -----Original Message----- >From: Kurt Krumperman via Neighbors_nobhill-nm <neighbors_nobhill-nm at mailman.swcp.com <mailto:neighbors_nobhill-nm at mailman.swcp.com>> >Sent: Feb 20, 2016 3:57 PM >To: "neighbors_nobhill-nm at mailman.swcp.com <mailto:neighbors_nobhill-nm at mailman.swcp.com>" <neighbors_nobhill-nm at mailman.swcp.com <mailto:neighbors_nobhill-nm at mailman.swcp.com>> >Subject: [Neighbors] ART > >Is it a coincidence that we have so many businesses on Central in Nob Hill and the prospects of the bus rapid transit? I do not think so. I have attended many meeting and spoke against it. I have written my concerns about this project. As I have said this is a solution looking for a problem. It will cost millions of Albuquerque citizens dollars and we will not have a better system than we do now. I am truly afraid that Central will become a wasteland during construction. These business scrape by and any decline in commerce can put them under. I have not met many people who favor this project except the Transportation department and our city politicians. The allure of "free" money from the Federal government has drowned out all the critical voices. Who benefits from this? I do not think it is the people who live along or frequent Central Ave. is it too late to stop this? There are so many other things we need to spend public money for. > >Kurt > >Sent from my iPad >_______________________________________________ >Neighbors_nobhill-nm mailing list >Neighbors_nobhill-nm at mailman.swcp.com <mailto:Neighbors_nobhill-nm at mailman.swcp.com>>http://mailman.swcp.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/neighbors_nobhill-nm <http://mailman.swcp.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/neighbors_nobhill-nm> _______________________________________________ Neighbors_nobhill-nm mailing list Neighbors_nobhill-nm at mailman.swcp.com <mailto:Neighbors_nobhill-nm at mailman.swcp.com> http://mailman.swcp.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/neighbors_nobhill-nm <http://mailman.swcp.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/neighbors_nobhill-nm> _______________________________________________ Neighbors_nobhill-nm mailing list Neighbors_nobhill-nm at mailman.swcp.com <mailto:Neighbors_nobhill-nm at mailman.swcp.com> http://mailman.swcp.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/neighbors_nobhill-nm <http://mailman.swcp.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/neighbors_nobhill-nm>_______________________________________________
