I see no evidence of the City supporting affordable housing in Nob Hill
or of the City enforcing zoning regulations that complement the historic
nature of Nob Hill. Both the Carlisle Condo Building and the Daskalos
Condos across from the Flying Star are build right up to the sidewalk
and loom over existing historic architecture. The poor residents of
Campus Drive south of the Daskalos Condos lost their southern views and
southern exposure. These same residents protested to the city but their
protests fell on deaf ears. The units for sale in both projects start
at over $375,000 which is hardly affordable housing. Recent sales in
the Dascalos Building range from $439,000 to $550,000.

The small house south of the Carlisle Condos suffered major water damage
when the fire department fought the fire at the Carlisle. The foundation
may not be repairable. If the Carlisle were not built to all sides of
the property line then it would be less likely that water would have
ruined the foundation of this small historic house. Looming Buildings
also ruin views. I personally enjoy the architecture of Immanuel
Presbyterian Church at the corner of Carlisle and Silver that was
designed by John Gaw Meen. It is a vintage historic American church.
In the past, when traveling south on Carlisle from Lomas it has been my
pleasure to see the church come into view. Now I see only the looming
Carlisle.

Nob Hill is old Route 66. Nob Hill is a historic treasure. Do not let it
be ruined. Pay attention to the decisions that the city has make up to
this point about zoning, architectural design, lack of setbacks, and
catering to developer rather than protecting the residents of the area.
