The car in this photo I saw over at UNMH last night is part of the criminal wave running thorough our communities. I noticed it because of the hidden tag (under a smoke cover so it is only visible when about ten feet away) and on closer inspection you can see the noise resonator on the left rear under the bumper which has replaced the emissions system and muffler. The brake lights are hidden also behind darkened plastic lenses making it really unsafe to be on the streets. These little stealth cars are made to sound like souped up cars sound like Indy 500 cars when they race down Coal and Lead and other streets and no one can get their tag numbers. They can get away with this hiding of the license plate from visual identification and altering the exhaust system because there seems to be no serious enforcement for these crimes. There are hundreds of illegal cars and trucks like this on our streets which just contributes to the ability to encourage others to greater crimes against people and property. Have you noticed all the smoking vehicles on our streets? The city Environmental Dept. can call in cars for smoking exhaust but compliance is voluntary on the part of the vehicle owner. This program is a scam itself with no enforcement ability, owners can toss out the letters. The city should require at the vehicle emissions stations a test for these kind of alterations and smokers and issue fines, imo, and provide a way for citizens to call in these criminals to APD or to be forced to bring their vehicles into compliance. It raises the question of why do we law abiding citizens pay money to keep our vehicles safe, quiet and accountable when so many are allowed to do this. Bet it does not have insurance either…. bob

Caroline, so very sorry this keeps happening. I'm so glad you are safe and your vehicle was not stolen. Enough is enough!
