*City of Albuquerque Fire Restrictions and Safety Tips*

· Extreme caution is urged when using any type of fireworks or
firecrackers within city limits.

· Consider attending one of the many public firework shows around
town rather than purchasing fireworks.

· If you see illegal fireworks in use, call 911 immediately, or download
the free ABQ 311 App <https://www.cabq.gov/311/abq311/311-web-app> and
report illegal fireworks using your smartphone.

· Always buy fireworks from a local vendor to ensure what you
purchase is safe and legal for use within the city limits, and use caution
and common sense when using them.

· Always use fireworks on an asphalt surface and never on grass or
dirt.

· Always have water nearby.

· Be aware of your surroundings at all times when using fireworks

· For a list of Prohibited and Permissible fireworks within City
limits, visit:

*REMINDER! Firework Restrictions in Bernalillo County*

The Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners approved a ban on certain
fireworks in the unincorporated areas of the county, which is outside the
city limits of Albuquerque. The ban is effective immediately and will
remain in force through July 12. For more information on Bernalillo County
fire safety, visit: https://www.bernco.gov/Fire/

*Celebrate Independence Day with Freedom 4th at Balloon Fiesta Park*

Why not take the family out to Balloon Fiesta Park this July 4th and
celebrate with thousands of your neighbors? This year’s headline is
legendary country singer Jo Dee Messina, and there will be food trucks,
lots of fun activities, arts and crafts, and best of all, you don’t have to
drive! Take the park and ride from Coronado Mall or Cottonwood Mall there
and back again for only $1 round trip! To learn more about Freedom 4th,
visit: www.cabq.gov/culturalservices/things-to-do/annual-events/freedom-4th

*Things to Do on July 4th*

If you’re not going to Freedom 4th, there are a host of other things to do
on Wednesday, for you and the entire family. Isotopes fireworks and
baseball, celebrations in surrounding areas, and much more! Visit:
https://www.visitalbuquerque.org/abq365/blog/post/things-to-do-in-albuquerque-for-4th-of-july/

*Open Space and Bosque Walking Trails Always Forbid Fireworks*

Many people don’t know this, but the open space areas and bosque walking
trails within City limits have year-round restrictions on any type of
fireworks or firecrackers. It is NEVER allowed to use fireworks in any of
these open areas, due to the high fire risk. To learn more about our
walking trails and our Open Space program, visit:
http://www.cabq.gov/parksandrecreation

*Pet Safety on July 4th*

Fireworks are terrifying to most pets, and each July 4th, many go missing
as a result. Here are some tips to keep Fido and Fluffy as calm and safe as
possible:

· Don’t take them with you to firework shows or displays.

· Prepare a safe place in your home for them, in a quiet, cool room,
possibly with white noise or music or the TV on.

· If they want to hide under the bed or elsewhere in your home, let
them.

· You may want to consider “calming” treats to help with their
anxiety. Ask your vet about this.

· Consider not buying any fireworks or setting them off at home, but
instead, enjoy one of the many public firework shows around town.

*Fourth of July City Closures*

Just a reminder that most city offices will be closed on Wednesday, July 4,
in observance of Independence Day. There will be no bus or Sun Van service,
all libraries, senior centers, open space, and community centers will be
closed, and animal shelters will be closed other than intakes. For a
complete list of holiday closures, visit:
www.cabq.gov/holiday/news/july-fourth-holiday

*City Services Available on July 4th*

Some city services WILL be available on Wednesday, July 4th. All emergency
services, police, fire and EMS, will provide full service. Trash and
recycle pickup will be on a regular schedule. The 311 call center will take
calls starting at 6:00 p.m. to handle an expected influx of fire safety
calls. To see a listing of services that WILL be provided on Independence
Day, call 311 or visit:
https://www.cabq.gov/holiday/news/july-fourth-holiday#what-s-open

*Camping this 4th of July? Check Your Park Status Online Before Traveling!*

Many people enjoy camping at one of our beautiful state parks throughout
New Mexico, but most are closed this year due to the extreme fire risk and
drought. Before packing up the Airstream or pop-up this holiday, check out
the New Mexico State Parks Closure page at:
http://www.emnrd.state.nm.us/SPD/ParksReportingPublicDisplay/Closure/Index

*ONC Closed on Wednesday*
