*Inspector General Offers Neighborhood Presentation Resources* The Office
of the Inspector General (OIG) has the responsibility for promoting
accountability, integrity, efficiency and transparency in the governance of
the City of Albuquerque. The OIG accomplishes this through inspections,
special reviews, and investigations where there are allegations of
wrongdoing, waste, fraud, mismanagement or abuse. Tips from employees and
citizens are key resources to the OIG, *and you CAN remain anonymous. *If
your neighborhood association or civic group would like to have a

*Ground-Level Ozone Prevention Tips from Environmental Health* Ground-Level
Ozone (O3) ) is an invisible pollutant that threatens Albuquerque's air
quality; but we have the power to reduce it. While some Nitrogen Oxides
(NOx) and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are naturally occurring
(biogenic), most are man-made (anthropogenic). For example, emissions from
power plants, factories, and vehicles, along with fumes from paints,
solvents, and fuels, contain NOx and VOCs. From May through September high
levels of O3 are most likely to occur. Together we can keep ground-level
ozone levels down and air quality up. Learn more about ground level ozone
and how you can prevent it at: www.cabq.gov/ozone/tips

*Firework Safety Tips for July 4th * July 4th means fireworks and sometimes
that can mean trouble. Albuquerque Fire Rescue offers these tips for
firework safety, and strongly encourages you and your family to attend
public firework displays instead of buying them. If you do purchase them,
consider these tips:
- Always buy fireworks from local vendors to ensure what you purchase is
safe and legal.
- Look at the labels. If it says CAUTION, it's legal within city limits.
If it says WARNING, it is illegal.
- Only light fireworks on paved or barren areas. DO NOT use them near
your home, in vegetation or bushes, or in proximity to other combustible
materials.
- Have a water source close by, such as a garden hose or large buckets
filled with water.
- Keep children and pets away from the firework lighting area, and
consider keeping your pets indoors away from the noise of fireworks. The
noise can be very frightening and traumatic for them.
- Don't use homemade fireworks. They can be unpredictable, and cause
severe injury or death.
- Report illegal fireworks by calling 242-COPS, 244-FIRE or submit a
report via the OneABQ app. Download it at:
