*Holiday Closures for July 4th*

Thursday, July 4 is Independence Day and the majority of City services and
offices will be closed. There will be no bus or Sun Van service, all
libraries and community centers and senior centers will be closed, the Open
Space Visitors Center, animal shelters and the Summer Lunch Program will
all be closed, and there is no 311 service that day. The BioPark and
Botanic Gardens, golf courses, museums and city swimming pools are all open
until 5:00 p.m., and there will be regular trash and recycle pickup that

*Coffee With a Cop Invites Public to Attend*

Join the officers of the Foothills Area Command at “Coffee with a Cop” this
Thursday, June 27 between 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at McDonald’s, 11824 Lomas

*Community Emergency Preparedness Training This Saturday*

The public is invited to attend a free Emergency Preparedness Training on
Saturday, June 29 from 12:00 noon – 2:00 p.m., at the Don Newton Taylor

*Teen Night Events Offer Free Summer Fun and Activities for Kids 12-19*

Family and Community Services, Parks and Recreation and Cultural Services
(Youth Connect*)* have planned 12 teen events that will take place at
various locations throughout the city on Friday evenings, throughout the
summer months. These events have been designed with a variety of themes to
cater to youth, ages 12-19. This week’s Teen Night event, “Teen Night
Takeover,” will include an Escape Room, Science Lounge, food, and music.
This event takes place Friday, June 28, 6:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., at Explora.

*Mental Health First Aid Trainings Offer Resources for Youth-Focused Groups*

The free Youth Mental Health First Aid classes provide excellent resources
for individuals and groups who work primarily with the youth in our
community. These trainings are open to the public and are particularly
useful for people who regularly have contact with young people ages 8-24
such as parents, caregivers, teachers, coaches, school administration
staff, janitors, bus drivers, community center staff, youth groups, after
school program staff, doctors, nurses, hospital and medical facility staff,
parks and recreation, court services, probation and juvenile justice, faith

Saturday, June 22 marked the start of new hours for the BernCo Animal Care
and Resource Center. Hours of operation are 11:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Tuesday
through Saturday, with adoptions from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The Center is
closed on Sundays, Mondays and all Bernalillo County holidays. In case of
