Hi All,
I enjoy a beer or wine too at times and am not qualified to have a technical point to say about this license application other than to say to our larger community: where do we stop at putting more alcohol and addictive substance outlets near our youth: are we another Facebook? I will probably have a meal at the new restaurant one day.
I say this as having in recent years adopted four kids - some are now in their teen years and some out of that range. Along the way I noticed that we do not have in Nob Hill a community center or a way to really help our kids or seniors like me too - but cannabis stores are populating all over. (There is what looks like a drug den operating at the apex of Coal and Lead, where Zuni starts, which is right near a number of schools.
All this came around to me recently when my 14 yr old told me as he was crossing UNM (trying in the summer to find something to do) people were offering him weed, telling him it was ok now that it had been legalized, and it was not harmful anyway. I went through the war and the 60s and have a different opinion of that.
The school buildings don’t stay open in the summer or after classes for youth activities which could help some. We have an obligation to our youth, our next generation to provide better for them and ourselves. There seems to me so much lawlessness and lack of care in our community nowadays.
