Friends and Neighbors, Councilor Rogers is using a model called
Participatory Budgeting to allocate certain funding. I believe this refers
to the $1.5 million per council district that councilors use in their
district each year. It may also extend to other funding like capital
improvement money. I'm not clear on that.

If you would like a voice in these decisions I recommend you participate in
that process. The attachment has details.

If you get involved your neighborhood association will appreciate hearing
from you so we can coordinate neighborhood efforts.

On a different item. Folks are beating the big weeds at Wellesley Triangle
(at Campus Blvd.) but the many small ones including goat heads are getting
ahead of us. Can you help?

Subject: Participatory Budgeting Onboarding!!! July 21st

Hi,

I'm Simon, with PBABQ and I'm reaching out to invite you to another
community event - the "PB Onboarding Meeting" - on Sunday, July 21 from
1-3pm at East Central Ministries at 134 Vermont St. NE. If you were able to
attend our June 18th PB Visioning Session at the International District
Library, we really appreciate you being there and bringing your ideas to the
table. We look forward to bringing you on board in a deeper capacity moving
forward!

We want to make a special shoutout to all of the community organizers and
leaders who went above and beyond to get the word out about the PB Visioning
Session and who will play a pivotal role in implementing PB in District 6
moving forward. We also want to thank all of the City staff who took time
outside of their work to attend the Visioning Session and provide technical
assistance.

For those who are new to PBABQ, we are a group of local residents partnering
with Albuquerque City Councilor for District 6, Nichole Rogers, to
democratize the city budget through a process called "Participatory
Budgeting" (PB for short). PB is a deliberative democratic method of fiscal
budgeting where residents decide directly how to spend a portion of the city
budget on community priorities. We've secured an initial pilot program with
set-aside funds thanks to District 6 Councilor Nichole Rogers and her team!

Please fill out this form to RSVP and let us know how we can support your
full participation in this event:

We will be using our PB Onboarding Meeting as an opportunity to get local
residents more involved in the process. We are building out our PB
organizing infrastructure, including a District 6 Steering Committee, a
City-wide Governance Committee and an Outreach Committee.

For those who were not able to attend the Visioning Session and/or you would
like to review the powerpoint that was presented at the Visioning Session to
keep you up to speed with PBABQ's work moving forward, here is a link to the

jiWbIevo/edit?usp=sharing> PBABQ - Visioning Session PPT. As we get closer
to the Onboarding Meeting, we will share more materials with you to help you
get ready for the meeting.

We ask that you circulate this invitation within your organizations and
social circles, especially if you live in District 6. Please fill out the
google form (linked above) to RSVP, and let us know what would enable you to
fully participate in this event. If you have any additional questions,
especially those on how we can make PB a truly inclusive process for
District 6 - and eventually all of Albuquerque- please reach out! I am
happy to email or set up a time to talk.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Simon
