I have not heard the rumor that something other than apartments is going in at 208 Wellesley. BTW, the developer (Consensus Planning) applied to Landmarks Commission for demolition permit back in Sept. 2022. This is from notification email Oct. 12, 2022:
"This email is intended to provide notification that Consensus Planning has submitted an application to the Landmarks Commission for a Demolition Permit outside a Historic Protection Overlay for the property located at 208 Wellesley Drive and 3300 Silver Avenue SE. As we have discussed in prior meetings and emails, the Applicant is proposing to demolish the existing structures on the site and redevelop it with multi-family residential that will be designed and constructed in compliance with current IDO development standards appliable to the MX-T and R-MH zones and Use Specific Standards for multi-family development."
Perhaps there is confusion with the site at Bryn Mawr and Central (old Highway House Motel). A boutique hotel is planned for that site. If I find out anything to the contrary, I will certainly let group know.

Because it sounds like it was apartments and now won't be. So what is going to be? This is the part of our neighborhood association that my wife and I are concerned about - and that is, that the good people trying to help our neighborhood, need help. That ABQ is changing and they are not prepared for it. Those of us who come from states where rapid gentrification happened and then developers ruined a "historic" neighborhood by tearing down everything and building grotesque huge non-conforming properties.

Have we done any work to limit the tearing down of old pueblo homes and letting any (usually crappy and only concerned about money) developer just start building whatever they want? Do we have any restrictions on that in our "historic" neighborhood? I bet we don't. But why not? Other historic neighborhoods are not just "historic" in name, they set restrictions on what can be done with a property so that developers (who often don't even live in the neighborhood) can't come in and just start tearing down cute pueblos and building garbage homes that look ridiculous. It's coming everyone so we better start discussing this as a neighborhood. Our neighborhood definitely needs to advertise for someone to run social media on instagram - it's just not being done properly now (and forget about Facebook, you never even get a response).

We had meetings last year regarding this property. If the Nob Hill Neighborhood group and it's leaders know something about what is happening with regards to this property I think it would be appropriate for them to inform the neighbors. This is an important and major change to the neighborhood and we should be kept informed of any changes. I would appreciate any information the association has knowledge of. I feel that would be much better than just rumors going around. Thanks John Alberty
