[Neighbors] $1.5 Million to Improve District 6

For those of you who don't approve of back in parking, here are reasons to maintain its existence:
Back-in angle parking, also known as reverse angle parking, is a parking technique that involves backing into an angled parking space instead of pulling forward. It's considered a safer alternative to parallel and front-in angle parking. Here are some benefits of back-in angle parking:
   - Improved visibility: Drivers have a clear view of traffic when exiting the space, and can merge directly into traffic.
   - Safer for pedestrians and cyclists: Drivers have a direct line of sight to pedestrians and cyclists.
   - Safer for loading and unloading: Car trunks are close to the sidewalk, outside of the roadway.
   - More parking spaces: Back-in angle parking allows for more parking spaces than traditional parallel parking.

Back in parking is good for streets with a bike lane or a bike boulevard. It doesn’t impact the sidewalk or pedestrians.

Not sure back in parking helps pedestrians. As usual, I don’t remember any public input regarding all the street changes being solicited at the time - it’d be nice if a group would be willing to take a look at it and make suggestions as that was not the case.

The back in Hurricane has worked great for me. I have an extended cab extended bed truck that fits well in this parking situation. The speed limit is only 18 miles an hour so it is no problem negotiating around any obstacles. As far as the bicycle median, that has been absolutely a godson. Now I can wait for traffic to subside from Carlisle and make my turn onto Silver easily. No more rushing across lanes of speeding traffic.

We are trying to have a pedestrian friendly neighborhood. The suggestions book for today are backwards.

Tom, a great idea. As a merchant I was happy to have more parking available nearby, but the "back in" configuration is useless, the street is a mess.  The creator of that project was Pat Davis.

Thank you for your input. I added Nicole Rogers to the email list, so that she can see how neighbors feel and get the city to correct their mistake

I think whoever designed that angled parking should be responsible for fixing it. The city created the problem and the city should fix it. I don't think the money should be spent on that.
