[Neighbors] Two Nob Hill Restaurants are Closing

Thank you, Jessica, for reaching out for our take on your planned story
about restaurants closing in our area. I am copying our neighborhood email
list serve. (Jessica is at Channel 13 News).

 

Our association is dedicated to improving quality of life for the 3,000
households within a half mile of Central and Carlisle. Neighborhood
businesses are key to our quality of life. We say, " When you think of
shopping, food, or drink Think Nob Hill First."

 

Last week I read that restaurants nationwide are closing at the highest rate
in 30 years except for the COVID period. Dining habits are evolving. Costs
like labor, utilities, rent, and insurance are high. Yes, we're disappointed
when our restaurants close but it's not unique to Nob Hill.

 

We have great restaurants here. Zinc is back. M'Tucci's, Mesa Provisions,
Bodega, Mission have placed their confidence in Nob Hill. We have Frenchish
and Scalo;  Flying Star, Two Fools, Ihatov, Nob Hill Social House, Tia B's,
Triana, SooBak, Mata G, Phat Stax,  Michael Thomas, and the Farmacy to name
a few. At a couple of these you have to call a week in advance to get a
reservation. Retail struggles nationwide but innovative high-touch models
like the Guild, Mariposa Gallery, Empire Board Games, La Montanita Co-op,
Retail Therapy, Sachi Organics, Terrazo Archives, What's in Store, Zazz,
Monet's Spa, Next Chapter Studio , Sign and Image Factory, and Organic Books
thrive in Nob Hill. And there are more!

 

The 3,000 households in Nob Hill and another 10,000 within the next half
mile are eager to shop local. 

Business struggles citywide but Nob Hill is one of the safer more authentic
places to enjoy and the more of us who enjoy it the safer it is.
