[Neighbors] Two Nob Hill Restaurants are Closing

My observation about ART and a walkable neighborhood is that the bus service is no better now than under the Rapid Ride system before ART. There are the same or fewer number of “express” buses. Since traffic was not that bad along Central, the speed of bus travel depended more on the number of stops than having a dedicated lane. But the walkability of our neighborhood has been damaged by making it more difficult to cross Central wherever you desire. The many old “bulbouts” really worked.

The City needs a plan to make the street more pedestrian friendly.

I don’t usually find conversations on this topic productive in an online forum but I will just put it out there that abysmal public transit was the biggest reason I worried about moving back to New Mexico. Nob Hill’s access to transit was one of the biggest reasons I moved to this neighborhood in the first place and I take ART downtown and to Uptown pretty regularly.

City planning and transit are obviously complicated issues and we can have different opinions but if people are hearing that ART is ruining our community, I think it’s also important to note that it’s a significant asset to some of your neighbors and a big reason we’re here in the first place. I love seeing the bus coming through the nob hill so frequently, I love not being dependent on a car to get to fun places and I’m really happy to be able to make a climate conscious decision by supporting transit.

I get it’s not black and white, but it’s also not all downsides for all of us.
