[Neighbors] Air Traffic Over Nob Hill

Friends and neighbors,

For several months we've had tremendous disruptive air traffic over Nob Hill.
We have gotten updates from Angelica of the Mayor's office.
This week we also looped in Councilor Rogers.
The chain below lays out the situation and its imminent solution.

Hi Councilor Rogers –

Thanks for reaching out. The increased air traffic over these neighborhoods is indeed due to the closure of Runway 8-26, which runs east-west, for replacement (and more energy efficient) lighting. Our timeline on completion has been somewhat delayed, so 8-26 will reopen on May 16th, thereby alleviating the situation.

We may need to close 8-26 again for up to two weeks in mid-June, depending on any final close out work that needs to occur. I did just see your follow up email sharing the response from Angelica, but wanted to ensure you’re armed with this more detailed information.

I totally agree that this is a major problem.

For several weeks we have been addressing it with Angelica of the Mayor's office.

She has indicated it is the result of runway construction which may be nearing completion.

Perhaps she will fill us in on this thread. Also, she will be at our association board meeting May 6 where I imagine she will address this.

Greetings, regarding the airplanes flying over nob hill since Sept. 2024 the noise and disruptions has been non-stop.

What once was a quiet neighborhood is now a horrific cacophony of low flying jets every 3 minutes from 5am till 1 am.

You need to explain what is going on.

This is dangerous for first responders, doctors, nurses, school teachers, students and children who live here and are not getting enough sleep. Economically I've had guests and potential buyers ask me how and why anyone would want to live here.

This needs to stop immediately.

Please respond with an answer and solution.
