Thanks Taihg for your response. Yes I am very aware of the program and in fact worked with the Albuquerque department of aging to develop a similar one here in Nob Hill before Covid however it never got off the ground.  For me community goes beyond age specificity. So my vision now is not aging in place but rather  a more inclusive  Being Well In Place. Checking in with single moms, caregivers, elders, those nursing injuries or illnesses, reclusives. The situations go on and on. So if you would like to continue this conversation I would welcome your input. I’m thinking maybe having a sun tea and nibbles at my home for those interested in exploring this further. The Parkland Village Program helps neighbors “age in place”, take care of each other, and build community. Volunteers visit to check in on members and also provide assistance with changing lightbulbs, helping with landscaping, helping with technology, and other things to help.

Rather I would like to explore ways in which our Nob Hill community can proactively address this issue and support our neighbors and friends who find them selves increasingly isolated.
I have a vision of starting a Nob Hill Best Buddies group. It would consist of those of us requesting daily check-in from a buddy or two and those of us who would like to be a buddy for our neighbors.
